Zakat Property Calculator

Most homes you live in are Zakat-exempt. This tool covers property bought for resale or investment trading.

Which properties are Zakat-able?
• Your primary residence, and property you rent out for rental income, are not Zakat-able as assets themselves.
• Property purchased with the clear intention to resell for profit (trade goods, "flipping", land banking for resale) is Zakat-able at its current market value.
• Rental income itself is not taxed as it's earned — but once it accumulates as cash/savings in your account and stays there for a full lunar year, that saved cash becomes Zakat-able like any other cash holding (use the Zakat Cash Calculator for that).

Whether a specific property counts as "for resale" versus a long-term family asset can be nuanced (e.g. inherited land, undeveloped plots bought with mixed intentions). Please confirm your specific case with a qualified local scholar.
